RHS Minutes 2016-10-15 AGM

Minutes of 2016 AGM of the Round Hill Society:

15th October at  11am at Richmond House, D'Aubigny Road.

Those present: ten people living in Round Hill attended: Jan Curry, Annie Rimington (chair), Ruth Melia, Carol Hall (outgoing Treasurer), Jackie Jones, Brigida Ciplyte and Seevose Cipliene of 21 Round Hill Crescent, Jane Power, Ted Power and Rob Stephenson (secretary).  Apologies from Wendy and Terry Tidman, Vivien and Barry Eliades, Rusty Curry, Chris and Penny Morley, Jenn and Marigold, Sandy Thomas, Ray Knight, Barbara Harris, Peter Meakins, Katie Rice, Miriam Stephens.


Liz Fletcher of Pavilions welcomed us and outlined the various parts of the Drug and Alcohol Treatment services they provide for the city.


Election of new committee - a show of hands brought the new committee on board as follows: Annie Rimington (chair), Barbara Harris (treasurer), Rob Stephenson (secretary), Jan Curry, Ray Knight, Peter Meakins (new), Ted Power, Kate Rice, Miriam Stephens (new) and Sandy Thomas.


Affiliate memberships: those present also granted permission for

[1] the society to put forward a member for the Commemorative Plaque Panel in the coming year, and

[2] agreed renewal of our B&H Heritage Commission membership (£35).


Treasurer's Report - Carol gave her final report as Treasurer, noting that we had a slightly higher income than outgoings, finishing £88 richer than we started the year.  We formally thanked her for several years of active Treasurer-ship.


Annual Report - Annie summed up our activities over the last 12 months, and looked forward to a Halloween Clean-up (11am to 1pm) and Playsafe (3 to 5 pm), a Seasonal Singing event and Advent Window activity over the next 2 months.


The long wall: Upper Lewes Rd / Wakefield Rd - we discussed the long wall and agreed to consult those living immediately opposite, and to pursue self-muralling and live planting.


AOB: Under AOB we  

[i] planned to promote a compost scheme with rather more specific detail of who we need and how it will work if volunteers and users come forward.  

[ii] A spring dog show was outlined by Jan,

[iii] the idea of a Jumble Trail (using existing website support) reiterated.  

[iv] We also noted the poor attendance at our first ever saturday morning in-area AGM and agreed weekday evening  for next time.
