Community Paint-Over Event

Dear Resident,

As you’ve probably noticed, the long wall at the bottom of Wakefield Road / Upper Lewes road isn’t looking very nice at the moment. We’re writing to you because you’re a local, and we’d like you to be involved in the activities and decisions leading to its improvement.

We’re proposing a two step approach:

STEP 1: COMMUNITY WALL PAINTING EVENT
On Saturday 21st May and Sunday 22nd May from 10am-5pm, we’re running a community painting session, where we simply paint over the current mess with a neutral colour. The paint is being provided by Brighton & Hove Council. The date will be. We’d love you to come along and help paint - kids and teenagers are also very welcome, and there’s no obligation to stay all day. So feel free to stop by for a quick go on the rollers and a chat. Please bring your own rollers, trays and dust-sheets if you have them.

STEP 2: PLAN A BIGGER, BETTER SOLUTION
Longer term we’d like to engage you - and the local community - in a discussion where we decide upon a more extensive solution. So far, suggestions have included new murals by local artists and / or planted greenery to make the wall into less of an eyesore. The point is for it to be a democratic campaign made by the community as a whole. Please bear in mind the wall is private property so it will take a while for this to happen.
