Minutes of the RHS meeting held on Tuesday 8th Sept 2020, 7pm garden at Jan Curry's.
Present and apologies: Jan, Andrew, Jamie, Kate R, Jo(anne), Kate W, Rob. Apologies from Stefania and Eva.
Next meeting: 7pm Tuesday 6th October at Rob's, - if it doesn't break any rules.
Minutes of the last meeting (21st July) were agreed.
Matters arising: The Jumble Trail never found an organiser; we have had no reply from the new Tree Officer, Peter Small; Jan will organise a big planted pot for Barbara's new home; Jane and Dominic did respond to the other RHS's request for tales of 'greening under lockdown'.
Money matters: Andrew has renewed our membership of B&H Heritage Commission, £35. We have gained £2.50 from the sale of one pack of cards, and £130 in advert revenue for the recent Reporter. Having passed 20 years of the RHS we discussed buying/offering a second volume of Round Hill Reporters, but felt it would have a very limited market. Rob agreed to discover the financial issues behind having a print on demand edition from lulu.com (where the first volume is still available).
Possible new committee member: Having moved the meeting from a street location to Jan's garden without telling local resident, Gary Jenkins, Jan nipped up the road to see if he was there. Sadly not, and he emailed Rob asking what happened. I apologised and send him these minutes. Also plan to speak to him soon.
Heritage Open Door: 9 houses involved, plus 4 other locations have agreed to display material provided for them (101 RHC, Richmond House, Ashdown Rd noticeboard (!) and 34 Belton Rd). We agreed to share info about it on social media to boost awareness, mentioning map on our website, http://www.roundhill.org.uk/heritagemap.jpg
Future socials/activities: We discussed using a paid-for Zoom account to hold an AGM, perhaps late October. This would benefit from full distribution of leaflet, using existing delivery folk. Jamie also raised the idea of using 'our' Zoom account to help others set up a range of meetings (quizzes, coffee mornings and more). Kate W will offer doorstep Zoom support in order to tempt more involvement. Andrew has spoken to our local Covid support person (Jo) and expects to hear more from her when a clearer view of future needs appears. Dog stencils: Eva may have stencils as she was going to seek them. Turns out she did not find them and is now proposing to seek them via RHS friends, before buying more, plus suitable spray paint. Jan offered to store stencil kit. Reporter will have piece to promote their use.
AOB: Jamie offered to take over Barbara's Reporter delivery round. 22 Crescent Rd HMO application: it has attracted 50 objections New website - we have talked often but achieved little. Andrew proposed that we use our facebook and Friends groups to seek help in making a new simple website to stand beside existing one. This page was last updated by Ted on 08-Jun-2021
