Review of our city's list of heritage assets
Brighton and Hove City Council will only attempt sympathetic replacement of columns / lanterns / etc if the street lights have been listed
The City's Local List of Heritage Assets is currently being revised and the public are now being invited both to support current nominations and to provide descriptions and locations of historic street lights worth of protection. Without listing, they are fair game for unsympathetic replacement.
To help get the lights listed:
The Council's review of the city's Heritage Assets has now reached the stage where the public are invited to support or show indifference to recommendations. The Council has logged London Road Station on its first draft of the revised local list under Shaftesbury Place see within PDF for places beginning with "S".
Please increase Shaftesbury Place, Brighton London Road Railway's chances of inclusion on the city's list of heritage assets by sending a comment in support of this to
Heritage Team, Kings House, Grand Avenue, Hove, BN3 2LS.
The deadline for comments is 15th March 2015.
We cannot be sure that this attractive station will be added to the Local List of Heritage Assets, unless a sufficient number of Brighton and Hove's residents support the nomination. Any comments received will be considered in producing a final draft local list and Planning Advice Note which will be reported to the council's Economic Development and Culture Committee for approval.
Click here if you are willing (when commenting) to point out to The Council's Heritage Team that they have failed to include London Road Station's historic & evidential interest and community value in their otherwise helpful recommendations.
